Frederick Jekel

Frederick, “Fritz”, Jekel was born near Buffalo, New York. The sixth of seven children, he moved to South Carolina after high school and enrolled in the University of South Carolina. He immediately fell in love with the area and made the state his home.
In 1993, Fritz graduated the South Carolina School of Law with a Masters in Public Administration and his Juris Doctorate. After passing the bar, he went to work for Ness, Motley, Loadholt Richardson & Poole, PA. As a pre-trial and trial attorney he handled cases in a wide range of intricate issues:

Around 2002, when the firm became Motley Rice, Fritz began to focus his legal endeavors on catastrophic injury cases such as asbestos and severe personal injury. He won several multi-million dollar asbestos case rulings. He also led the counsel for students at Stratford High School who alleged their civil rights were violated during a drug raid, effectively changing police department and public school policies.
In 2008, Frederick Jekel ended his tenure with Motley Rice in order to open Jekel-Doolittle with his best friend of over 15 years, Paul Doolittle.

Paul J. Doolittle

Paul J. Doolittle was born in Columbia, South Carolina. While his family moved several times as a child, he has always called South Carolina home and still does today, living in Mount Pleasant with his wife and two daughters.
Paul graduated from the University of South Carolina with an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a minor in Business Law.
From there, he went to work for Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough, starting in their mailroom. He worked his way up to trial assistant while going to University of South Carolina School of Law. This gave him the thorough, first-hand view of the practice of law, with which he fell in love.

After being awarded his Juris Doctorate, Paul went to work for the law firm of Foster & Foster. There he gained experience in a wide variety of cases, ranging from simpler auto accidents to complicated auto transactions.
Taking the skills he learned at Foster & Foster, Paul went to what is now referred to as the Motley Rice law firm. While working his way up to partner of the firm, he moved from Greenville to Charleston. He also accomplished a great deal, including:

With all his great work for Motley Rice, he chose to resign his partnership in order to fulfill his long time dream of a smaller, more intimate, firm with his best friend Frederick, “Fritz”, Jekel.
Douglas M. Fraser
Doug Fraser was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, before he moved to South Carolina. Doug graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources/Environmental Sciences. Upon graduation, Doug entered the environmental field in Chicago, first working as an Environmental Specialist for a small, local environmental consulting firm and later as an Environmental Scientist for an Engineering News Record Top 500 engineering firm.
During his years of work, Doug completed numerous underground storage tank removals, brownfield remediations and Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments on residential, commercial and industrial properties ranging in size from tens of acres to thousands of acres. He supervised field work for a remediation project awarded Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement of the Year – Project Under $5 Million. He also obtained an Asbestos Building Inspector license from the Illinois Department of Public Health and was a certified OSHA Hazmat/HAZWOPER – Site Worker.
Upon meeting his wife, a native of Hilton Head Island, Doug moved to Charleston, South Carolina, to attend the Charleston School of Law. At the Charleston School of Law, Doug was a Vice Chairman of the Honor Council and a charter member of the Pinckney Inn of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He also clerked with a local construction and real estate litigation firm during the summers and academic years. Upon graduating from the Charleston School of Law with his Juris Doctorate, Doug worked briefly for the local firm he clerked for before joining Jekel-Doolittle as an Associate.
